• Brian Bell, AIA

    PRINCIPAL

    Brian is co-founder and principal of BLDGS. His primary interest and 26 years’ experience is in creating high quality works of architecture and urbanism that deeply engage our senses and experience in the world.

    Brian is also a Professor of the Practice in Architecture at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he teaches advanced design studios investigating the relationships within and between buildings, cities, and perception.

    Bell received a Master of Architecture from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Washington in Seattle.

  • David Yocum, AIA

    PRINCIPAL

    David is co-founder and principal of BLDGS, a registered architect in GA and Washington DC, with national NCARB Certification, and has been in practice for 26 years.

    David sees architecture as a community asset, and in his practice he concentrates on architecture in the public realm. This includes work for arts facilities and museums, for higher education, architectural and interiors for commercial companies in design and media, and religious buildings.

    In addition to his work with BLDGS, David is a Professor of the Practice in Architecture at the Georgia Institute of Technology College of Design where he is the Director of the Master of Architecture degree program and teaches advanced design studios for graduate level students. His academic focus is the training of students in critical design thinking with particular emphasis on the challenges of architecture in the public realm, and the role architecture has in meeting broader societal needs.

    David received a Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College and a Master in Architecture from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University.

  • Clay Kiningham, RA

    ASSOCIATE

    Clay began studying architecture at Georgia Tech, where he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Architecture while studying in Atlanta, Barcelona, Italy, and Greece. Clay returned to Georgia Tech to complete his Master’s degree in Architecture, where he won the Portman Prize competition and received the Top Designer award. Before joining BLDGS, Clay contributed to the design of various project types including hospitality, multifamily housing, higher education, retail, and stadium design.

    At BLDGS, Clay leads the 3D modeling and computational design efforts by leveraging technology to introduce new ideas and forms. With an interest in parametric processes, Clay continuously researches the latest technologies in the field to facilitate quick design iterations during all project phases.

    Beyond his role at BLDGS, Clay is an illustrator, and a lecturer at the Georgia Institute of Technology College of Design, where he teaches Architecture Design Studios.
