A new classroom and faculty building adapted from a 1950s concrete and steel framed structure. To maximize the interaction between the instructional spaces and the adjacent pedestrian path, a new structural silicone curtain wall system was veneered to the existing structural frame. To increase its environmental performance, the glass is shaded year-round by a 28’ cantilevered canopy of light-reflecting louvers, tuned to the solar conditions, keeping views into and out of the building unencumbered.
